San Diego Spray Foam is a spray foam specialist founded by an MIT-trained mechanical engineer. We stop the air leaks that make your home hot upstairs, cold downstairs and expensive year round.
Energy efficient homes
Most homes are not under-insulated so much as they are leaky. Batts sit in a cavity while air moves freely around them — through the top plates, the can lights, the rim joist and every gap the framing left behind. Spray foam is different because it does both jobs at once: it fills the cavity and bonds to every surface it touches, so the air stops moving.
San Diego Spray Foam was founded in 2022 by Vlad Gordievsky, an MIT-educated mechanical engineer who got into this trade the hard way — by insulating his own house and then watching a previous employer overcharge for the same work. We are genuinely interested in building science, and it shows up in the quote you get.
Meet the people doing the workOur services
Every project starts with a walkthrough. We assess the assembly you actually have and recommend the material that suits it — open-cell, closed-cell, or something else entirely if foam is not the right answer.

Attic & basement
Closed-cell foam sprayed straight to the panel kills condensation, seals every rib and seam, and turns a steel shell into a shop you can actually work in year round.
Metal buildings
The cheapest time to get the envelope right is while the studs are open. We work to the builder’s schedule, trim flush for drywall and leave the site clean.
New constructionWhy choose us
An honest quote with no hidden costs, and a straight answer when foam is not the right product for your assembly. Our commitment to integrity and transparency is second to none.
Careful masking, consistent lift thickness, foam trimmed flush and a site left cleaner than we found it. The details are the difference between a job and a good job.
From the first consultation to the final walkthrough, you talk to the people doing the work. We listen to the problem you are actually trying to solve.
How it works
No pressure, no bait pricing, no crew you have never met showing up at your door.
A free at-home insulation quote on site. We look at the space, talk through what is going wrong and explore the options with you.
An honest quote with no hidden costs. We stay competitively priced and show you exactly what each line covers.
Most projects are quoted and completed within a month, often sooner. You get a real date, not a vague window.
We mask everything that matters, walk you through the plan before the gun comes out and keep you in the loop as we go.
Foam trimmed, offcuts bagged, surfaces wiped down and a final walkthrough before we pack up.

Common questions
Open-cell foam is lighter and more flexible, yields more coverage per set, and works as a strong air barrier and sound dampener. Closed-cell is denser, gives a higher R-value per inch, adds rigidity to the structure and acts as its own moisture barrier.
Closed-cell is the usual pick for metal buildings, rim joists and foundation walls. Open-cell often makes more sense on interior walls and vaulted ceilings. We recommend the material that suits the assembly, not the one that is easiest to sell.

Almost always the attic or ceiling. Picture the house as a cylinder with warm air escaping out of the top — capping the top first cuts the biggest driver of air movement through the building.
After the attic, the next best move is usually the rim joists around the perimeter of a basement or crawlspace, where the largest remaining leaks tend to hide.
Most residential projects can be quoted and completed within a month, often sooner. The spray itself is typically one to two days on site depending on square footage and how much prep the space needs.
For occupied homes we mask and ventilate the work area, and you should plan to stay out of the sprayed space while we work and through the re-occupancy window afterwards. That window is set by the specific product we use, so we give you the exact time frame before we start rather than a guess.
Yes — metal buildings are one of our specialties. Closed-cell foam sprayed straight to the panel stops condensation, seals every rib and seam and makes the space conditionable. We mask lifts, doors, vehicles and equipment before anything gets sprayed.
Yes. We are licensed and insured, and happy to provide documentation before work begins.
